Job Description
Bookkeeper
Tasks:
Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions and ensure the entries are recorded in the correct daybook, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
Bring the books to the trial balance stage by reconciling entries.
Process payroll in a timely manner and ensure payroll taxes are correctly calculated.
Prepare and send invoices, and manage accounts receivable.
Issue checks for accounts payable as needed.
Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures.
Analyze revenues, commissions, and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately monthly.
Prepare financial statements, such as income statements and balance sheets.
Assist with tax returns and compute taxes owed by preparing necessary tax forms and reports.
Perform bank reconciliations and report any discrepancies.
Bookkeeper
Qualifications:
Proven bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
Familiarity with accounting software programs, like QuickBooks, Xero, or similar.
Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software.
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
High school degree; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
Understanding of business bookkeeping procedures.
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage financial records accurately.
