Legal Assistant

Tasks:

  • Conduct legal research and compile data for attorneys' use in documents and case preparation.
  • Draft and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
  • Manage calendars by scheduling appointments, court dates, and meetings.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, and maintain case progression.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
  • Support the billing process by preparing detailed billing logs and expense reports.
  • Coordinate the submission of legal filings with courts and government bodies.
  • Ensure efficient and effective administrative management of legal cases.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and in accordance with data privacy laws.

Legal Assistant

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary.
  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols, and court system.
  • Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.
  • Working knowledge of case management software.
  • Competency in MS Office and other office systems.
  • Excellent secretarial and organisational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure.
  • Legal Assistant certification or diploma.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Discretion and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
