Underwriter
Tasks:
Evaluate and analyze insurance applications to determine risk levels and appropriate premiums.
Consult with clients to gather information and explain the terms of coverage.
Use actuarial data to determine the likelihood and magnitude of risk.
Decide whether to offer insurance coverage and under what terms.
Review and update the rules that govern automated underwriting decisions.
Monitor insurance claims to assess the risk of offering insurance in the future.
Collaborate with actuaries, accountants, and other professionals to assess risk.
Develop and maintain a profitable book of business for the insurer.
Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Continuously update technical knowledge in the field, including changes in insurance laws and regulations.
Underwriter
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an underwriter or a similar role in the financial sector.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills to assess risks accurately.
Knowledge of insurance policies and ability to interpret complex information.
Proficient in MS Office and underwriting software.
Detail-oriented with research and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
Relevant certifications in underwriting or risk management, such as the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, may be advantageous.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
